Minister Alex White visits college

Friday, the 17th October 2014 saw the visit of Alex White, TD, (Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources) to Stillorgan College of Further Education.  His visit was to see the innovative way in which the college is using the high-speed broadband connection that his department is rolling out to schools and colleges throughout the country.  During his visit, Minister White met staff and students and was given demonstrations on a number of different ways in which the college is using this new connection.  Some of the resources that the minister was shown included how students are now able to collaborate online for projects using Basecamp.  Minister White was also shown a demonstration in Augmented Reality - a new technology that the Multimedia students are now able to incorporate into their projects due the improved speed and reliability of the college's broadband connection.

TESTIMONIALS

"All the subjects on the course [Event Management] were relevant and they helped me when I went into the degree course because I had already studied parts of them. I feel like all the subjects I did now stand to me and I learned a lot in the year."
