Stillorgan Students Achieve High Progression Rates Again

The recent CAO offers brought great news for the Stillorgan College of Further Education class of 2014/2015 as record numbers have again been offered degree courses in Institutes of Technology and Universities.

Once again, the students on the Art Foundation class have lived up to the exceptional record of graduates from this course being offered places on their desired degree course.  All students who were looking for a degree course were offered a place.  The majority of students were offered places to study art in either NCAD or IADT Dun Laoghaire with other students choosing to accept offers from other colleges around the country.  The high rate of progression underlies the reputation of this course as the foremost portfolio preparation course in the country.

Graduates from the Animation course were also thrilled with their results.  In particular, the students who were offered places on the Animation course in IADT were justifiably chuffed with their results as this course required 1000 points.  A maximum of 600 points of this was for the portfolio that the students prepared in Stillorgan and, as usual, the feedback from IADT on the standard of these portfolios was very positive.

Graduates from other courses were also pleased with their results.  For example, students on the Multimedia course are now looking forward to starting degree courses in colleges such as IT Tallaght and DCU to continue their studies in this discipline.  Likewise, students from the Journalism and Media Foundation courses have been offered places on courses such as the Communications course in DCU.  These students will be following in the path of the 6 students from Stillorgan who were offered places on the DCU Communications Degree course in 2014.  Students from the Travel & Tourism and Event Management courses have also been offered places on degree courses in colleges such as DIT.

All in the all, the class of 2015 are proof positive that there is an alternative to the Points Race and that the courses in Stillorgan College are excellent preparations for further study.

"All the subjects on the course [Event Management] were relevant and they helped me when I went into the degree course because I had already studied parts of them. I feel like all the subjects I did now stand to me and I learned a lot in the year."

"I found the Travel & Tourism course very practical and relevant to the working world. As well as helping me realise that I wanted to work in the Travel Industry, the course also helped me find a training opportunity which led to a full-time job. I am currently working in a busy long haul department with a leading travel company which would not have been possible without completing this course".
